Integration of personal accident insurance and health insurance and its impact on the profitability of the group insurance portfolio

Insurance in general, personal accident insurance and health insurance in Iraq face many obstacles stemming from the nature of the local community, which lacks proper insurance culture and awareness, and from the reality of the work of the Iraqi General Insurance Company, as it still relies on traditional methods in all stages of its business and promotes limited cover documents that are not appropriate With the actual need of the insured public, with amounts that do not meet the small expenses incurred by those who need these types of covers.
This study aims to highlight the impact of the merging process on the quality of the insurance service, in addition to identifying the determinants that hinder the merging process between the two covers and to come up with specific recommendations on merging the two covers and appropriate proposals for their application and the benefit from the benefits achieved from that.
Where the importance of the study lies in the fact that it sheds light on an important and vital topic in which interest is increasing worldwide, which is health insurance and personal accidents.
In the research, the researcher relied on the data and annual reports of the Iraqi General Insurance Company. The study concluded with a set of conclusions, including: The phenomenon of merger is one of the most important strategic options that insurance companies take to move from their current position to the better one, and merger is one of the contemporary economic features. From the competitiveness of insurance companies through working with large scale measures on the one hand, and benefiting from administrative expertise and rationalizing the use of their resources on the other hand, to other positive goals.
In the end, the researcher presented a set of recommendations, including: The need for the Iraqi General Insurance Company to strive towards achieving the merger process to form a strong insurance portfolio capable of competing locally and regionally.
