Accordingly, this study aims to examine the role of algorithmic management, and sustainable technologies in improving supply chain resilience through the mediating role of digital dexterity at Kubaisa Cement Plant.

The study adopted a descriptive analytical approach, and collected data from a sample of 140 employees working, at the plant through a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) through Smart PLS 4.

The findings revealed that the plant demonstrates favorable, levels of algorithmic management, sustainable technologies, digital dexterity, and supply chain resilience. The results also indicated significant positive effects, of algorithmic management and sustainable technologies on supply chain resilience, as well as a significant positive effect of digital dexterity on supply chain resilience. Furthermore. The findings showed that digital dexterity plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between sustainable technologies and supply chain resilience. However, no significant mediating role was found for digital dexterity in the relationship between algorithmic management and supply chain resilience.

These findings highlight the strategic importance, of integrating sustainable technologies with digital capabilities to strengthen, supply chain resilience within manufacturing organizations. The study also provides practical implications for industrial managers, regarding the importance of investing in sustainable technologies, and enhancing employees’ digital dexterity to improve responsiveness to operational changes, adapt to environmental and competitive challenges, and achieve long-term operational sustainability.
2026-10-25T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://bcuj.baghdadcollege.edu.iq/index.php/BCESUJ/article/view/408 Health Insurance Risk Segmentation Using Unsupervised Machine Learning and Clustering Techniques 2026-10-25T10:39:51+00:00 Taqwa Salim Mohammed taqwa@uodiyala.edu.iq
Health insurance databases include key demographic, health-related, lifestyle and socioeconomic risk factors that allow for the discovery of patterns of policyholder risk. This paper applies unsupervised machine learning techniques to analyze an insurance cost and risk dataset of 1,338 rows/12 variables. In particular, the overall goal is to find hidden risk classes among policyholders and gain better insights into determinants of differences in insurance premiums. Initial preprocessing included checking variable types, imputing missing numerical values, encoding categorical variables, and standardizing numerical features. Next, multiple clustering techniques were used which are BIRCH, Gaussian Mixture Model, Agglomerative Clustering (average linkage), Agglomerative Clustering (complete linkage) and DBSCAN. Clusters were evaluated using internal validation metrics, namely Silhouette Score, Davies-Bouldin Index, and Calinski-Harabasz Score. Cluster sizes were examined, and the results were visualized using two-dimensional PCA plots. Results: BIRCH provided the best clustering framework that clustered all data into three identifiable low, medium and high-risk insurance groups. The main differences between insurance risk groups were seen in age, BMI, insurance premiums and associated health-risk factors based on cluster profiling. Compared to the low-risk group, policyholders in the high-risk group had higher average insurance charges, older age, and a greater burden of obesity. The findings nonetheless suggest that techniques for clustering are able to partition health insurance data, thereby enabling decisions based on modelling and evidence on rate
2026-10-25T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://bcuj.baghdadcollege.edu.iq/index.php/BCESUJ/article/view/401 The impact of credit concentration and capital adequacy on non-performing loan levels: an econometric study of a sample of Iraqi commercial banks for the period "(2015-2024) 2026-10-25T08:26:23+00:00 Saif Kadhim Zaboon Saif.k.zaboon@kus.edu.iq
The problem addressed by this study lies in the increasing rates of non-performing loans (NPLs) in the banking sector due to limited capital buffers and unclear credit policies. Therefore, the study aimed to measure the role of credit concentration and capital adequacy ratio in loan defaults at the banks in the study sample, while controlling for variables such as size, profitability, liquidity, and inflation. The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing panel data from a sample of six commercial banks for the period 2015-2024, comprising 60 observations. The Herfindahl and Hirschman Indices (HHIs) were used to measure credit concentration, and the data were analyzed using a standardized fixed-effects model.

The results showed a significant positive correlation between credit concentration and an increase in NPLs at the 1% level, demonstrating that weak credit diversification increases financial vulnerability. Conversely, the study revealed a significant negative correlation between capital adequacy and profitability in reducing NPLs. The study recommended that banks diversify their loan portfolios to mitigate concentration risks and enhance capital adequacy to absorb unexpected credit shocks.
2026-10-25T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://bcuj.baghdadcollege.edu.iq/index.php/BCESUJ/article/view/402 The Impact of Big Data Technologies and IFRS 9 on Improving Credit Audit Quality in Iraqi Banks: A Field Analytical Study for the Period (2018-2022) 2026-10-25T08:31:02+00:00 Fayda Sharif Abdul Salman faydhashareef80@gmail.com
This study measures the effect of internal auditors' awareness of big data technologies on credit audit efficiency and financial disclosure quality in light of IFRS 9, and analyzes the main barriers to adopting these technologies in the Iraqi banking accounting environment. A descriptive-comparative-analytical approach was applied to a purposive sample of 48 internal auditors across four Iraqi economic institutions - only one of which is a commercial bank, with the remaining three engaged in credit-related dealings with banks - a composition that limits generalization of the field results to the Iraqi banking sector as a whole. A validated 24-item questionnaire covering three dimensions was used, with content validity confirmed by an expert panel and construct validity established through item-total correlations (0.61-0.79); reliability reached a Cronbach's alpha of 0.87. One-sample t-test and correlation/regression results showed a statistically significant positive relationship between auditors' awareness of big data technologies and credit audit efficiency (sample mean 88.63 versus a hypothetical mean of 72). Regional benchmarking revealed a wide credit gap, with private-sector credit-to-GDP in Iraq at 6.7% against a regional average of 48.6%. The study recommends mandating the Expected Credit Loss (ECL) model under IFRS 9 and establishing a national credit information system
2026-10-25T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://bcuj.baghdadcollege.edu.iq/index.php/BCESUJ/article/view/403 The role of financial technology in developing the banking sector in Iraq 2026-10-25T08:35:41+00:00 Farah Ali Tawfiq magazine.college@baghdadcollege.edu.iq nabaa abd alreda Jawad magazine.college@baghdadcollege.edu.iq
The global banking sector is undergoing fundamental transformations due to the rapid evolution of financial technology (FinTech), which has become a strategic necessity for enhancing banking performance and promoting financial inclusion. This study aims to examine the status of FinTech adoption in Iraq, focusing on digital infrastructure, core banking systems, regulatory frameworks, and institutional challenges.

The research follows a descriptive–analytical methodology, supported by a field study involving 145 employees from public and private banks as well as e-payment companies. The findings reveal a statistically significant positive relationship between FinTech adoption and the improvement of banking performance. Private banks demonstrated higher levels of digital trust and readiness compared to public banks. Major barriers include weak infrastructure, outdated legal frameworks, and a shortage of specialized digital skills. The study concludes with key recommendations, including the modernization of digital systems, implementation of regulatory sandboxes, and enhancement of consumer financial literacy.
2026-10-25T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://bcuj.baghdadcollege.edu.iq/index.php/BCESUJ/article/view/404 The audit quality in the era of digital transformation: An empirical guidance for Iraqi banks, period 2012-2024. 2026-10-25T08:44:27+00:00 Nadia Talib Salman nadia@mtu.edu.iq
Digitally transforming businesses has become an increasing focus of study in relation to audit quality, although there is little empirical research on this topic across frontier banking markets. This research investigates the way digital transformation impacts the quality of internal auditing in Iraqi banks that are listed on the Iraq Stock Exchange (ISX) for the years of 2012 through 2024. We generated a Digital Transformation Index (DTI) using natural language processing of the Arabic-language annual reports of 310 banks. This index is based upon five distinct technology categories, which include: Core Banking Technology, Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Technology, Cybersecurity and Regulatory Compliance Technology, Digital Customer Service Technology, and Information Technology Infrastructure Technology. Furthermore, we used a composite index to evaluate internal audit quality, as well as four additional dimensions (I.e., audit opinion quality, audit committee independence, auditor professional qualifications and timeliness of audit reporting), that followed past literature on auditing. By using a fixed-effects model for panel data analysis of 187 bank-year observations (i.e., 20 banks), we found three main results. First, for every one-unit of increase in the lagged DTI, a bank will show a statistically significant increase of 0.025 in composite audit quality (p < 0.01). This provides evidence that digital transformation positively influences the overall governance of the internal audit process. Secondly, the influence of digitalization is significantly bigger for quality of audit opinion (β = 0.130, p < 0.05) compared to any kind of structure of governance so that digitalization effects principally occur through the auditor performance channel. Third, the relationship between digital and audit quality after 2018 due to the Central Bank of Iraq's digital reform agenda is approximately three times larger (β = 0.045, p < 0.001) than before it (β = 0.014, p < 0.01). Showing that a regulated environment acts as an important driver of improvement in the quality of digital driven audits. These results make contributions to the auditing literature by offering the first time ever archival evidence about the relationship between digital transformation and financial institution audit quality in Iraq, documenting the existence of a synergy effect with respect to regulation and providing a replicable framework for use of natural language processing-based measures to evaluate digital transformation in Arabic language financial statements.
2026-10-25T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://bcuj.baghdadcollege.edu.iq/index.php/BCESUJ/article/view/405 Technology lifecycle Cost Management and its Role in Research and Development Expenditures for industrial products – an applied research study at the General Company for Electrical and Electronic Industries 2026-10-25T10:17:57+00:00 Shaymaa Kamil Mwayesh Asadi dr.shaymaaasadi@uomustansiriyah.edu.iq Mohammed Kareem Hameed Khalaf momr88@uomustansiriyah.edu.iq
This research highlights importance of measuring cost of technology lifecycle and its impact on research and development expenditures (R&D) by using cost management tools to analyze costs of industrial products. research problem stems from the lack of understanding regarding the impact of this relationship, both in terms of cost and technology, on industrial products, as well as when these R&D costs are recovered. research aims to determine the impact of relationship between the technology lifecycle and R&D expenditures on industrial products. research hypothesizes that adopting technology lifecycle as a method for analyzing and measuring R&D expenditures on industrial products contributes to pricing industrial products by measuring technology lifecycle costs and informing decisions regarding the development of existing products or creation of new ones. results of this research indicate a strong relationship between the technology lifecycle and R&D expenditures. While industrial economics has traditionally focused on market structure, competition, monopoly, pricing, and productivity, the issue of industrial survival has received relatively limited attention as an independent analytical phenomenon.

Industrial survival is defined as the ability of industrial firms to maintain economic activity over the long run while preserving competitiveness and adapting to economic and institutional changes. The study examines both internal determinants—such as managerial efficiency, firm size, production capacity, cost management, and quality—and external determinants, including market competition, government policies, access to finance, macroeconomic stability, and institutional arrangements.

Using a descriptive-analytical approach, the study integrates major industrial economics theories, including the Structure-Conduct-Performance paradigm, Transaction Cost Economics, the Resource-Based View, and Competitive Advantage Theory. Based on this integration, the paper proposes a new conceptual model entitled the Industrial Survival Framework (ISF), which consists of four dimensions: operational efficiency, competitive capability, market flexibility, and institutional environment.

The study contributes to the literature by introducing a new analytical concept of industrial survival and providing a theoretical foundation for future empirical research in industrial economics.
2026-10-25T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://bcuj.baghdadcollege.edu.iq/index.php/BCESUJ/article/view/400 The impact of the use of renewable energies on productivity and improving sustainability in Iraq 2026-10-25T08:12:40+00:00 Raghad Marwan Hazem Al-Hayali raged.23bap183@student.uomosul.edu.iq Iman Mustafa Rashad aiman_mostafa@uomosul.edu.iq
The use of renewable energy represents an effective economic approach to enhancing productivity and achieving resource efficiency. This relationship is a pivotal element in supporting sustainability within agricultural economies facing increasing environmental and development challenges. The study aims to analyze the impact of renewable energies under study on productivity in various economies with the aim of achieving environmental and economic sustainability in agriculture, which enables us to identify how to reduce production costs and increase returns, as well as reduce carbon emissions for the sample countries (Iraq) for the time period (2000-2022). The research was based on a basic hypothesis that renewable energies have a positive impact on agricultural productivity, Two approaches were used in scientific research: the first includes the descriptive aspect, which in turn includes the theoretical framework and reference presentation of renewable energies, productivity, and sustainable agricultural development, and the impact of renewable energies on productivity and sustainable agricultural development. The second approach relies on standard quantitative analysis, which includes building the model for the study based on the functional theoretical relationships presented in the theoretical aspect and strengthening them. Based on previous studies, the model was then tested using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model using the EViews software package.

The study reached a set of results, the most notable of which are:

The rate of energy consumption in agriculture and foreign direct investment in the agricultural sector have a direct and significant effect. It sought to determine the level of these variables according to their respective dimensions, with the goal of developing a clear understanding of the relationships and mutual influences between them, and arriving at results that contribute to addressing the research problem. To achieve this, a questionnaire was designed comprising (59) items, covering the main dimensions of the variables under study. It was distributed to a sample of (59) faculty members from the college, representing various disciplines and academic levels. Statistical analysis tools, namely correlation and multiple linear regression, were applied to the questionnaire. The results of the study showed a high level indicating the existence of a work environment that values constructive conflict at the college, as well as a high level of organizational commitment among the sample members, and a high level of organizational loyalty in general at the college. The results also revealed a statistically significant partial positive correlation between constructive conflict and organizational commitment, between organizational commitment and organizational loyalty, and between constructive conflict and organizational loyalty. Furthermore, the regression equation showed a positive effect of constructive conflict on organizational commitment, constructive conflict on organizational loyalty, organizational commitment on organizational loyalty, and constructive conflict on organizational loyalty through organizational commitment. In light of these findings, it was concluded that the relevant authorities – represented by the Board of Directors of Al-Mamoun Private University College – have a pivotal role in enhancing organizational loyalty. Developing an effective strategy to confront these threats has become essential, The most prominent of these crimes include terrorism, corruption, drug trafficking, human trafficking, money laundering, and the forced migration of skilled professionals. as they weaken state power and endanger its institutions. These asymmetric threats pose social, economic, and security risks due to their unlawful nature. Since 2010, the Iraqi government has not implemented substantial or effective measures to counter these threats, nor has it succeeded in formulating comprehensive and sustainable solutions. This failure is attributed to political, economic, and international factors, in addition to weak legal frameworks and the involvement of organized crime networks with influential actors at the local, regional, and international levels. Consequently, these dynamics have negatively impacted Iraq’s internal security and stability. The study emphasizes Al-Rashid Bank branches in banking industry that is experiencing rapid digitalization and a heavy usage of data for making marketing decisions and marketing practices. It is based on the assumption that the rigid and unchanging organizational structure and organizational procedures can hinder the bank to adapt to the dynamic environment and to make best use of data if conditions change, and strategic agility can be used as an organizational mechanism to increase the bank's adaptability and effectiveness in using data.

This study used descriptive analytical method, which involved questionnaires as its main data collection tools and the sample consisted of 305 employees from Al-Rashid Bank branches. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and reliability test in SPSS V26 and confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling and assessment of direct and indirect effect in AMOS V24. The suitability of the measurement instrument was confirmed by the validity and reliability indicators and the suitability of the proposed model was supported by the goodness-of-fit indices. Results showed that organizational rigidity had significant negative effects on strategic agility (β = -0.48, P< 0.001) and had direct negative effects on data-driven marketing efficiency (β = -0.42, P< 0.001). On the other hand, data-driven marketing efficiency was found to have a statistically significant positive effect on strategic agility (β = 0.64, P<0.001). The Bootstrap test also confirmed the indirect effects of organizational rigidity on marketing efficiency via strategic agility (β = -0.31; 95% CI = -0.404 to -0.225), supporting partial mediation via strategic agility.

This study's relevance in the real world is that it emphasizes the need to also work on the organizational constraints that can be worked on along with strategic sensitivity, collective commitment and fluidity of resources, which, in turn, helps banks to improve the ability to translate data into efficient marketing practices and decisions. A descriptive analytical correlational approach was adopted, utilizing a structured questionnaire to collect data from a stratified random sample of department heads and administrative managers. Statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS and AMOS. Results revealed a significant positive impact of intellectual capital on strategic capabilities, with human capital emerging as the strongest predictor, followed by relational capital, while structural capital demonstrated a significant yet comparatively weaker effect, highlighting an institutional need to strengthen knowledge-support systems. The study concludes that transforming intangible assets into dynamic capabilities requires systematic integration of human expertise, institutional structures, and external networks. Practical recommendations are provided to develop knowledge management frameworks, promote administrative decentralization, and embed strategic capability indicators into accreditation standards. This study gains significance from the scarcity of literature empirically linking intellectual capital dimensions to dynamic strategic capabilities within the Iraqi higher education context, which faces rapid environmental shifts and global quality accreditation pressures
2026-10-25T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026
